Source Code, Cash Flow & Ecosystem: The "Odd" Combination That Shaped MonStudio

What I learned about Programming from... Balance Sheets and Environmental Science?

Whenever someone asks me: "Mon, what school did you graduate from?", my answer always leaves them stunned for a few seconds.

They expect: "Polytechnic, FPT, or National University of Technology." Reality: "I studied IT at a community college, then graduated with a Bachelor's in Accounting, and I'm currently researching Environmental Science in Taiwan."

Sounds messy, right? A hotpot of random stuff? But this very "odd" combination is the core foundation that makes MonStudio completely different from pure Developers out there.

1. Accounting Taught Me "Optimization"

In Accounting, the golden rule is: Assets = Equity + Liabilities. The balance sheet must always balance. Even one cent of discrepancy must be traced to its cause.

This mindset haunts me when writing code.

  • For a regular Developer, code that works is good enough.
  • For me, one redundant line of code is like a wasted expense (Waste).

When I set up servers for MonStudio or apps like PipeFit Pro, I don't look at RAM and CPU as technical specs. I see them as Financial Resources. How to make the App run fastest (Maximum Revenue) with the lowest Server cost (Lowest Capital Cost)? That's why I chose VPS + Docker + Coolify instead of expensive solutions.

Accounting taught me: Beautiful code doesn't generate money. Efficient code with optimized operating costs generates profit.

2. Environmental Science Taught Me "Sustainable Systems"

Currently, I'm living and studying in Taiwan — one of the places with the best technology and environmental awareness in the world.

In Environmental Science, we study Ecosystems. Everything is interconnected. If you dump waste into a river, the sea dies, fish die, and people go hungry.

Software is exactly the same. A new feature, if not well-planned, becomes "tech waste" (Tech Debt), polluting the entire project, making the App increasingly slow and hard to maintain.

Environmental thinking helps me build software architecture that is Sustainable. I don't write "instant noodle" code only to tear it down 6 months later. I build systems that can "breathe on their own" — easy to scale and clean.

3. And IT Is the Execution Tool

Finally, the foundational IT knowledge (from my college days at Viet-Han College) is the pair of hands that brings those mindsets to life.

When you work with MonStudio, you're not just hiring a code monkey.

  • You get the financial prudence of an Accountant.
  • You get the systems vision of an Environmental Researcher.
  • And you get the execution speed of a Product Builder.

Conclusion

No path in life is a detour. All knowledge we acquire becomes puzzle pieces forming the complete picture.

If you're looking for a technology partner who doesn't just say "Yes, Sir" but also advises you: "How to save money?" and "How to make the App last?", I'm here.

From Taiwan, Mon is still coding, still calculating, and still building sustainable digital ecosystems every day.
